Intro

For over a century and a quarter, IWEISS has been synonymous with theatrical drapery, rigging, and automation. Now, the company is demonstrating a significant evolution, venturing into complex, large-scale custom design-build solutions. Their latest project, a completed LED installation in collaboration with Design and Productions Inc., exemplifies this expansion, showcasing the company’s ability to seamlessly integrate artistry, engineering, and cutting-edge technology.

Project

Born from the visionary design of the Rockwell Group, it presented a unique challenge: to transform an architectural concept into a tangible, functional reality. The role of IWEISS was pivotal, encompassing the engineering, fabrication, and installation of custom support structures that would house Pixel Flex’s advanced LED technology. This undertaking required a delicate balance of precision metal fabrication, a deep understanding of theatrical rigging principles, and a commitment to ensuring the installation’s long-term structural integrity.

The Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream is set to open in Washington, DC in late summer 2025.

“This project underscores our strategic shift towards providing comprehensive, turnkey solutions beyond our traditional offerings,” stated Richard Parks, Vice President at IWEISS. “We moved beyond simply supplying components to becoming a key partner in bringing complex designs to life. Our ability to collaborate closely with designers, production teams, and technology providers allows us to tackle projects that demand a multidisciplinary approach.”

The success of this project lies in the IWEISS ability to bridge the gap between architectural vision and technical execution. By leveraging their extensive experience in theatrical rigging and automation, they were able to engineer and fabricate custom support structures that not only met the aesthetic requirements of the design but also ensured the seamless integration and long-term reliability of the LED installation.

This project is a testament to the WEISS commitment to innovation and their ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the entertainment and architectural industries. As they continue to expand their design-build capabilities, IWEISS is poised to play a leading role in shaping the future of custom installations.
