Hickory Aviation Museum – Hickory, NC

The Hickory Aviation Museum in Hickory, North Carolina officially opened its doors on May 16, 2026, celebrating the completion of a remarkable new space dedicated to preserving aviation history. In early 2025, IWEISS partnered with the museum team to complete a full site survey, engineer the rigging point solution, and prepare the featured Marine HMLA-269 Cobra helicopter for permanent suspension.

Our team executed the precision installation and permanent hanging of the Cobra helicopter, which now serves as a dramatic centerpiece suspended behind the museum’s front glass entrance. Completing the aircraft installation early in the construction process allowed the surrounding space to be finished around the display, ensuring seamless integration with the museum’s architectural design while creating an unforgettable first impression for visitors.
