University of Wyoming

wyoming wire tension grid rigging

Our project at the University of Wyoming which included four renovated spaces and four newly constructed spaces.  Under contract with Sampson Construction we were working under tight timelines to keep the project on schedule.  Our Chicago based project manager Russ Dusek was working directly with both the Sampson PM and the TD of the University which allowed for smooth coordination of our work.

The project involved both traditional velour drapery as well as custom decorative sheer fabric with unique sewing methods.  We provided mock up sewing samples to the Theatre Consultant Schuler Shook Chicago and the architect Tobin & Associates. This allowed for a unique collaboration ensuring the project’s time frame and design expectations could be met.

Pipe Grid was installed in the new Light Lab and curtain tracks with adjustable acoustical curtains where installed in rehearsal rooms throughout the new PAC.  The new Recital Hall features sheer decorative curtains along with adjustable acoustic curtains.   A new Thrust style theatre was built which includes an IWEISS manufactured Wire Tension Grid with Stage Lighting positions, adjustable tormentor walls, perimeter acoustical curtains and 11 Single Purchase Counterweight line sets.

With such a fast track project IWEISS’ scope of work had several challenges and it was a pleasure to work with a design and construction team that allowed many of our solutions to be involved in the project.

At IWEISS we are very proud of our work on numerous learning facilities, both in the New York area and all across the country.  Check out some of our other work in our portfolio.
